@EAlluia @whstancil It's not a myth. I think the disagreement here is whether or not you simply want to maintain bare minimums for living or have a healthy/vital life well into the future when you're elderly. https://t.co/ABrUviK3dU Sarcopenia is a bi
https://t.co/uxylWsZEMS Data from 11,680 adults: Protein intake in the oldest ages was lowest, with up to 46% not meeting daily protein intake of 0.8g/kg. This correlated to low intake of vital nutrients too. The low protein eaters had significantly more f

@NanciGuestRDPhD @kevinnbass @maxlugavere @fleroy1974 @TyRBeal @vanvlietphd You may be right. Are there any data to suggest that this knowledge has made its way down to the masses? It's true, there are more choices. It may be beyond just protein https://t

Also bear in mind that this shows the protein ingested but not necessarily digested. Protein pump inhibitor drugs (which many older folks are prescribed to reduce stomach acid) & aging reduce the ability to digest protein even if you eat enough of it

Low Protein Intake/Low Diet Quality associated with Functional Limitations in Older Populations of NHANES. Given the interaction of protein, micronutrients, fatty acids, peptides etc. in regulating muscle mass, it seems logical that they are interrelated.

@NanciGuestRDPhD @NRodriguezRDN @Kenpo_Power_888 @ErikBustillo @Wendi_Irlbeck @AlexFerentinos7 @langernutrition @linktonutrition This is true among older adults. Many publications have reported low protein intake due to many factors.https://t.co/b0QT7tEeKK
It seems three meals a day is important to meet the protein recommendation of 0.8gm/kg/day for older adults (ahem, ages 50+) according to results of a recent large US population study. https://t.co/vP0pZ5dbtX Don't skip meals, folks! #nutrition #breakfast
US adults over the age of 51 are not consuming enough protein, and are thereby "more likely to not meet recommended intakes for micronutrients" https://t.co/mSehNEJAH0
Which is more important: total daily protein or total type of protein (eg. HMB)? What you choose? #diet #protein #aging #frailty #sarcopenia https://t.co/wSsStV1sT3 @JNHA6 @drjohnmorley
