@CSOIreland & @howardemma might want to consider Campos et al 2017 regarding Public vs Private Sector pay gap (Table 1), as there is a problem with the relative assumptions being used, and international data not referenced? https://t.co/N9OYaFbrcS

@isme_ie @rte Campos et al researched Pay Gap in 2017 - Table 1, Page 5 shows EU27 data proving that apart from some PIIGS countries, the normal EU Public v Private Sector pay gap < 10%. https://t.co/N9OYaFbrcS
@IrishTimesBiz Table 1, Page 5 of Campos et al below suggests that the normal EU27 public vs private sector pay gap is <10%, that PIIGS countries are the outliers. https://t.co/N9OYaFbrcS
@MarcPColeman @stephenkinsella @thecurrency This is a meta-study you won't find @CSOIreland sharing. The public-private gap in Ireland is seen only in PIIGS countries, where, other than Ireland, private sector pay is far lower. https://t.co/VK5CpEz3Dz

@VincentJenning6 @isme_ie @MarcPColeman @ESRIDublin @fiscalcouncil Lots of pay gap data at EU level, little to none in Ire. Typically, Public vs Private Sector pay gap is significent in PIIGS countries, and plus/minus parity elsewhere in UK & EU27. Res
@JamesMC61 @CormacLucey The @CSOIreland does not study EU data horizontally. The last meta-study on this was done by Campos et al in 2017, so 5 years out of date. We wonder has the underlying trend changed though? https://t.co/VK5CpEz3Dz It would be inter
@Eamo285 @MarcPColeman @Eintrachtrob @danobrien20 @businessposthq The gap between public and private sector in Ireland is only equalled in Italy, Portugal and Spain, where private sector wages are far lower than ours. https://t.co/VK5CpEz3Dz
@danobrien20 @businessposthq @CSOIreland But the @CSOIreland analysis does not stand up against international comparisons of the gap, such as by Campos et al. Only Italy, Spain and Portugal (where priavte sector pay is much lower) exhibit so large a gap.
@ProudfootGraham @JamesMC61 @Philip_Ryan @gabysayshey @PayReviewBodies Doesn't matter who we compare ourselves with. We have a public/private gap that is bigger than anywhere else in the EU bar Italy, Portugal & Spain, where private sector earnings ar

@MichaelMDowling The gap is real, and is not explained away by reference to externalities like education, etc. Professional composition of UK public service is similar to our own, and gap is c.2%. Our pay gaps similar to PIIGS countries- but their PS pay i
