Great study! Re-enforcers one of the the many great lessons imparted to me by @CQWhiteMD early in my training
Agree with the conclusion, but study is flawed (hard to know what intangibles drove intubation in the ED). There is a key difference between ED vs OR induction in OR (or ICU). In the OR provider (CRNA or anesthiologist) is actively pushing the meds. 1/2

Once more for those in the back: Majority of early, preventable trauma deaths are from bleeding. Pls focus on that 1st instead of blindly following an ABC algorithm that doesn’t work well in these cases. Delay intubation till OR is ideal

One of the reasons why teaching resuscitation with an ABCDE approach isn’t always right, though it’s still difficult to convince people to hold on intubation for a bit or until OR in a hypotensive trauma patient

We stress this to @UTSWSurgeryLife in our trauma conference. Intubating prior to getting access and starting resuscitation in a hemorrhaging patient leads to cardiac arrest. Great work @PMH_Trauma_RPD @MarkSeamonMD
