Ultimately, the consequences of this verdict will lead to a lose, not a win, for the U.S. as US-China collaborations support the US scientific enterprise: https://t.co/EDuhvFUoIL
As @jennyj_lee and John Haupt demonstrated, the US and China are key international partners when it comes to contributing to the world’s scientific knowledge. #Chinese student mobility to the US benefits both the US nation-state and global science https:

This is an interesting counter-narrative to current efforts to politicize scientific collaboration w/ China. It shows quite clearly that the US has more to gain by collaboration. Please stop demonizing China scientists, stifling collaboration & blockin

What would the consequences be? One thing that comes to mind is this research, out last year from @jennyj_lee on US-China research collabs over past 5 years, showing US research article publications would have declined without co-authorship with China. htt

"Thanks for the gunpowder, we're done now" might NOT be the smartest take, after all...
And this doesn’t even count all the Chinese scholars in the U.S. Put another way: there’s still a massive brain drain between China and the United States, and it’s massively benefiting the U.S.
Over the past 5 years, US research article publications would have declined without co-authorship with Chinese scholars, whereas China’s publication rate would have risen without the USA. (Maybe cutting off academic links to China isn’t such a great idea?)
There's only one loser in the decline of academic collaboration between China and the U.S. Here's a report that gives some hard evidence of what that looks like. https://t.co/208Z5Lw3WY
