@Amritanshu_SoA @Anviksiki @brhat_in @Amritanshu_SoA i think you might find some of these papers interesting based on your first part writeup- https://t.co/FtQ3k1pGah https://t.co/N4W3AiZWIV https://t.co/CEmtLTvZ4K https://t.co/garUATmuMT
Don't know about vowels but Mandarin tones are colored for me. 1st tone is red 2nd is orange 3rd is geen 4th is blue I acquired these colour associations way back when and it helped a lot. Now wondering what colours I get if I mix the vowels with tones?

The broad trends from our paper https://t.co/XKDnfZKVlL can be represented & and mapped onto articulation a bit like this — but that doesn't quite capture the individual variation seen in the associations, which can be admired in @nerdpro's viz at http

That wasn't the focus of the paper (which introduces a novel structure measure complementing synaesthetic consistency & finds categorical perception in synaesthesia) but it's an intriguing open question https://t.co/1SnYsnV7Ws
Writing up our big vowel-colour association study for a primary school educational resource this week with @tesvlee, I was reminded we still don't know exactly why people (n=1164) tend to overlay colours onto the vowel space in roughly the same way https:/

@ForresterGilly @JannyStapel @SussexUni @JonWinawer Apart from synaesthesia, a lot of associations are common to all of us, i.e. 'crossmodal correspondences' such as high pitch with bright colours, etc. Also check out our work on vowel-colour associations

I've occasionally used "What color is the number 8?" as an ice breaker. People have been pretty evenly split between "That's an outrageous question!" and "It's obviously X!" Now I have scientific evidence for the premise. Btw, it's obviously green 😁 #ph
