It has been great working with @IAPRI, and especially with Rhoda on several food security policy related research. See an example of one of our joint work published in Food Security. https://t.co/D8kzBAPpas https://t.co/FTqn8mSvcW

This Recent paper explores the linkages between legume based cropping practices and food security. Interesting results on strong and positive effects of cereal #legume rotation. #wednesdaythoughts @Food_Security @foodatmsu @ASA_CSSA_SSSA
Thanks to @USAID @FeedtheFuture thru funding from @LegumeLab & @foodsecuritylab for supporting this research in #Zambia. We are doing similar work in other countries to build an evidence base on relationship between integrating #legumes & #food_sec

Households that rotate cereals with legumes have more income, more calories/protein to eat; & sufficient food in more months of the year than households that do not practice cereal-legume rotation. Such effects were absent for cereal-legume #intercropp
Results of this article in Food Security suggest that cereal-legume rotation is strongly and positively associated with crop income, food production, & improves households’ food access through both the food production & crop income impact pathways

In this paper we test the hypotheses that all else equal, cereal-growing smallholders that integrate #legumes into their production systems (e.g., as #rotation, #intercropping, etc.) have: more availability of food; more income; & increased food access
Grain legumes have many environment, economic & nutritional benefits. But the relationship between legume cultivation and household #food_security has not been rigorously analyzed. My recent paper with @MSUAFRE and @IAPRI colleagues tries to fill that
