this is the reason why I hate the fact that almost all C codebases are filled with "hacks" and "clever tricks" that make the code unreadable. Why hasn't anyone made some "strict" tool like "gofmt" to prevent this?

I once wrote code like this: if(a = b * c, func(a, x)) { // ... } else if (d = e * f, func(d, y)) { // ... } I think the idea was to only set "d" if the else if block was executed but I mean really wtf were you thinking, old me?

epic read
I read a lot of source code. A hate how programmers keep using bad C idioms that lead to confusion and bugs. I assume it's because universities/colleges and textbooks teach bad code.
@daniel_bilar @cybergibbons Also, given the amount of misleading code patterns in opensource projects, I wouldn't be surprised there are still a lot of nasty things to find in Apache of OpenSSL: https://t.co/LLX7bTx3TB
