It does remind me of an article on the DOMS and NGF https://t.co/Fax7VuyUWE
@J_E_Barnard @paulie_paulie I'm leaning towards NGF as the culprit, especially after reading this article on DOMS: https://t.co/Fax7VuzsMc
Here's an interesting one on DOMS. So many overlaps with PEM, I think! Interesting that they were able to end the DOMS in rats when they blocked/eliminated NGF at the targeted tissue level. https://t.co/Fax7VuzsMc

"Because mechanical hyperalgesia without damage is observed for muscle undergoing LC [lengthening contraction] by electrical stimulation of the nerve, the mechanism of DOMS must involve other than damage and/or inflammation..." https://t.co/la8rB61Zud
@kyle_j_kranz The DOMS is the result of nerve growth factors released after exercise that happen to hyper-sensitize pain receptors. Presumably a stress induced adaptation to improve muscle fiber recruitment and synchronization. https://t.co/4KEU4vl29L

@marklaslett_NZ I tend to experience a decent amount myself! What's interesting is that muscle fiber damage is sufficient but not necessary for symptoms e.g. https://t.co/BSQ0UpwSyc

@drdavidevans @PeteOSullivanPT Understand that pain mediated via above but https://t.co/VkTpCMByTj mm damage not essential but is sufficient for DOMS
