... I just discovered, thanks to an email exchange with friends, this super idea/article. Just in case, take a look ;) Rouder, J. N. (2016). The what, why, and how of born-open data. Behavior research methods, 48, 1062-1069. https://t.co/V3w3cvnXK9 @Jef
@JeffRouder @siminevazire Born Open is definitely the way to go and I'd love to see that as the default standard. Beyond that, peer reviewed data would be one way to credit data curation and ensure that it's included in P&T. Brilliant article by this o
In the paper, I pick up on themes from @JeffRouder's paper on born-open data and argue that one way to increase adoption of the practice is to make it easier to collect born-open data than to collect closed/private data. https://t.co/VbFtuyYqdU
@slobentanzer @MicrobiomDigest That's a fair point. I think that it would be possible to do more to document the history of data so that one could, essentially, check the receipts. Something like Rouder's proposal of "Born-open data": Data that enters Git
@DanielBolnick Versioning and archiving data as soon as they are captured can bring many benefits with low effort, including automatic backup, easier sharing, and leaving a trace of all subsequent data modifications https://t.co/ImtAybgcks https://t.co/EgQ
@PieterHog There are some open lab notebooks that document transparently as the work is being done. I particularly like @JeffRouder's approach to born open data: https://t.co/3MBKLtvvZw It only captures part of the whole process as you describe.
@l_matthia I really like the 'born open' model for this - even if you are not actually publishing data as it comes in, I now make stuff (preregistrations, materials etc.) open from the beginning; saves all the work of 'fixing' it for sharing later!! https
