@mbeilste It's also the primary constituent of collagen, and most people's diets are quite deficient in it. Not sure how much benefit it is to us with defective collagen, but I figure it's still best to have adequate amounts. Haven't noticed it affecting

A study labels glycine as a "semi-essential" amino acid Why? They found that we humans miss needed amounts of glycine Glycine is abundant in bones, skin, cartilage, ligaments & tendons Not buying "cheap meat" leaves you with less glycine https://

@theholisticnick Just saw a post by @BowTiedVitamins in which he shared an intersting study, showing that we miss critical glycine in our daily intake (by up to 10gr/d) Shows how you should focus on "cheaper cuts" of meat & bone broth Here is the stu

Corroborates with what I had already suspected about glycine requirements. You probably need an additional 10 grams of glycine in your diet on top of what you already synthesize and consume. Not to mention having an SHMT mutation. https://t.co/RE3MPc1jxW
Two good articles. Including Fascinating one on glycine from Dr. J....
@The_Nutrivore @proftipper It's not robust evidence, but it's interesting. The researchers estimated glycine requirements and synthesis capabilities by looking at all the metabolic pathways in the body that glycine is involved in. https://t.co/T5SYaxax5P

I always look for the most chicken skin when I buy chicken thighs, best part and higher glycine content than muscle meat. Non-essential, but we don't make enough. Integral to collagen, preventing brown spots, healthy hair and thus healthy aging. https://t.

@RosaSorribas Nothing really artificial about these amino acids, omega-3s, collagen, vitamins and minerals however. Also there is a metabolic need for some of them from supplementation such as glycine/collagen https://t.co/lz8kXTfTT7
@PaddyCruiserdoc Better have a look at the biochemistry again https://t.co/lz8kXTfTT7 and the benefits of supplementing with glycine (which is found in collagen) https://t.co/sdo2SkvCRv. Not to mention that Cochrane meta-analysis show collagen has the bes
